Interclub Social Competition: Pubgaine (hosted by UNSWOC)

Map Unavailable

Date(s) - Friday 17 May, 2019
5:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Hey guys,

There is an interclub social competition May 17th– a combination of pubcrawl and rogaine, with a Game of Thrones theme. Matt and I are keen to form a UTSOAC team and would like a few other members (we get bonus points if you’re new!)

If there’s enough interest, can also register multiple teams.

You’ll want to bring ID, temp appropriate clothing, and maybe some choice equipment for points and laughs as outlined in the score sheet.

“UNSWOC is organising an Interclub Pubgaine for Friday 17 May. We are inviting UTS and SURMC to enter a few teams to represent themselves in what will be a very entertaining orienteering challenge. Details are as follows:
Food and in-person registration: 5:00pm- 6:00pm at start location. It would be best to email me with your team registrations by Wednesday 15 May so we can estimate numbers.
Start location/time: Sam Cracknell Pavilion BBQ Area at UNSW at 6:30pm.

End location/time: Victoria Park near Broadway at 9:30pm.

It will be Game of Thrones theme and bonus points awarded if the whole team is dressed in the theme.
What is this? Well pub crawl + rogaine = pubgaine! It’s Friday the 17th of May and it’ll be awesome. The basic concept is that in teams of 3 – 5 you will follow a map to visit pubs and gain points in Sydney’s East and CBD. More difficult to reach pubs = more points. At the finish line, the team with the most points wins – and there will be prizes!

You must be 18+ and carry ID to participate.
Teams must register at the gear cupboard or online before Friday to be included in the event. Maps and answer sheets will be handed at out on the night.
Arrive at 5.30pm at the UNSW Gear Cupboard at Sam Cracknell Pavillion for pizza/registration. Start time is at 6.30pm.
Teams can only travel on foot or public transport. No cars, taxis, skateboards or bikes.
Teams must stay together at all times. Splitting up to get to more pubs is a no-no.
Proof of having reached a pub is by answering the question on your answer sheets e.g. At pub X, what kind of stuffed animal sits next to the cash register?
The finish line will be at Victoria Park. Teams must arrive by no later than 9:30pm, 10 points will be deducted for each minute your team arrives late.

50 points – for each team with a new member who joined the club less than 6 months ago. 50 points for the first member and 30 points for each additional person.
40 points – for each team member wearing thermal leggings and shorts on top.
30 points – for each team member wearing a harness
20 points – for each team member carrying a compass around their neck.
10 points – for each team member wearing a head torch.
Double points for each pub where every team member drinks a beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Receipts must be provided.

You are responsible for your actions at all times. UNSWOC is not liable for any damage or injury sustained during the event. While having a good time is encouraged, getting overly sloshed and becoming a nuisance is not.”
