Loftus 5hr Night Rogaine! Sat 1st Aug

For the second time in 2020 we’re continuing our club rogaine efforts. The Loftus night rogaine is five hours long and runs through beautiful bush along the Woronora-Penshurst pipeline area. Please be aware this event is subject to social distancing guidelines and may still be postponed if the shutdowns come back.

Rogaining is the fun team sport of long-distance navigation – hiking through wilderness and/or urban areas with nothing more than a compass and a printed map. No phones or GPS allowed. Hit as many checkpoints as fast as you can, collect points and beat the other teams!

This is a flexible event which will cater for (confident) beginners through to pros (we’ll team you with someone experienced). Please mention when registering whether you are a beginner or experienced rogainer. You must be suitably fit for five hours of walking.

We must meet on-site at the registration desk at 2:30pm SHARP for the 3pm release of the maps, and the event itself runs from 5pm-10pm. That buffer is there to collect your map, wristbands and course hints, to help plan your team’s route.

Please sign up here on the club site only. Club entries will close a few days before the official event website, and then I (James C) will do the official registrations for you.

Students – $28
General – $40

Note there is no reimbursement incentive for 2020 due to budget tightening.

Depending on the amount of interest, we can have separate teams. If you wish to establish your own team with your buddies, let me know and indicate your desired team name, or otherwise I will pair you up with a team based on ability.

Fitness level: Moderate to high.
Mobility/Access: Full mobility needed.

Every team will have at least one UTS trip leader.

-*Highlighter and pen
-*Compass, Whistle, Headtorch with spare batteries (can be supplied by the club if needed – please ask us)
-2-3L water
-Energy snacks and pre-made dinner (NO catering by the event this year)
-Warm attire for cold temperatures
-Sturdy enclosed footwear / walking boots for hilly terrain
