canyoning
Hi All,
Zen and I will be running a trip through Whungee Wheengee Canyon on Saturday 22nd March. There are a few abseils, and what makes this canyon unique is the ‘duck unders’ where you need to swim underneath submerged rocks to get to the next section of the canyon on the other side. These are quite short only 1m or so, however you do need to be ok with the concept of having to hold your breath and swim under a rock where you can’t see the other side.
Must have own transport to and from Cathedral of Ferns Campsite. I am unable to provide lifts to participants on this trip. There are no public transport options. Please state in the signups if you have a car and how many people you can take. Preference is given to those who can transport others.
Requirements:
– Completed AS1 or have abseiling/canyoning experience
– Good level of fitness
Whungee Wheengee has quite a lot of uphill walking so you need to be reasonably fit.
We will meet at Cathedral of Ferns Campsite on Saturday morning. We will walk from the campsite to the canyon and return here at the end of the day. The canyon will take approximately 8 hours.
