The annual inter club (social) climbing competition is a chance for each of the three Uni climbing clubs, UNSWOC, SURMAC and UTSOAC, to battle it out for glory/bragging rights, and also catch up and have a fun night.
There are 4 individual categories, with novice (climbing less than 2 years) and opens for each gender, with prizes awarded to the top three competitors. This, however, isn’t a typical climbing competition, having just as much emphasis on doing fun, bizarre climbing related challenges, as climbing hard. Climbs/challenges are catered to all climbing abilities, and points are tallied to both the individuals and team score. So even if your not the strongest climber, your contribution could be the difference between UTS coming last, or second last (we’ve never actually won). More often than not, it is the club with the greatest number of participants, and not the strongest, that takes home the Manky Cam trophy. So come along for a fun night, meet some new people, enjoy the free barbecue and help UTSOAC thrash the other clubs!!!
The competition will be starting around 6 pm at the ledge climbing centre at Sydney University.
