Hi Members,
Have you recently learnt to abseil? Or have you recently abseiled in other club trips?
We are running x2 groups of beginner’s canyoning trip at Empress Falls at Wentworth Falls.
This trip is for people who want to utilise their abseil skills in the world of canyoning.
There will be 1x 30m waterfall abseil at the end of the canyon.
This trip will be run after the bushfire recovery tour walk, held in the morning at Blackheath.
Fitness and skills requirements:
- Able to swim in deep cold water up to 20 metres.
- Can hike in and out up and down steep hills for at least 30 minutes with a canyon pack.
- Be able to do short water jumps.
- Be able to scramble over large boulders and rocks.
- Recently completed abseils skills 1 or recently abseiled confidently in other club trips.
If you tick all the above, and want to see what canyoning is all about, then sign on to this activity.
The club can provide wetsuits, helmets, dry bags and canyon packs, and belay device. Please advise what you need.
Personal items to bring:
- Lunch, snacks, at least 2 litres of water.
- Woollen or thermal socks a must!
- Grippy rubber shoes (ie.Volleys from Target or Kmart)
- Old Shorts to protect wetsuit bottoms.
- If you feel sensitive to cold rivers, please bring additional thermal tops.
- Light packable rain or spray jacket
- Spare change of dry clothes
- Headtorch
- Small first-aid kit if you have one
- Hat and Sunscreen
- Petrol money for the driver.
- Good sense of adventure!
Please note: Do not bring Cotton clothes or sock into the canyon as it draws away heat from the body and therefore not a good insulator.
Canyon trips are subject to cancellation or postponement if the weather is not suitable for the day.
Please note registration will open on Sunday Evening. This will give you a chance to see other types of activities being run during the weekend.
