Welcome new members,
Abseiling is an essential skill required for many great activities run by our club such as canyoning, abseiling, climbing and caving!
Join Nuwan, Dushy and me to have a great and fun day learning these new skills.
What we will cover:
• Maintain personal safety near cliffs
• Understand basic abseiling equipment
• Attach rap rack/tubular descender to rope
• Perform safety checks
• Belay an abseiler
• Perform a basic abseil on single/double rope, with rap rack/tubular descender
• Manage an overhang
• Engage in abseiler/belayer communications
• Experience the joy of abseiling
Who is this trip for:
• Members who have not already done abseil skills 1 before
When & Where:
• Morning 8AM – 12PM
• 6th of March (Saturday)
• Clovelly
Abseiling gear:
The club can provide these items even if you do not have any of these gear.
• Harness
• Helmet
• Personal anchor system + carabiner
• Rappel device + carabiner
Please note that if you have symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, such as cough, sore throat, runny nose or fever, you should not join the activity. If you present with symptoms, you may be asked to leave the activity.
