[FULL] Abseil Skill 1 (Morning Session) at Clovelly 7 March (Sunday)

Hello New Members!

Abseiling skills are an essential prerequisite to a number of the clubs most popular activities, such as canyoning, climbing, and caving! Join Alex, Evan and I on this skills trip that will give you the techniques and knowledge to undertake a safe and enjoyable abseil.

This trip is geared for new members and those new to abseiling. No previous experience required.

We will cover:
– Maintaining personal safety at the top and bottom of cliffs
– Preparing for an abseiling based activity
– Conducting pre-abseil safety checks
– Getting on and off the rope
– Communicating between cliff top and bottom
– Negotiating common abseil hazards
– Performing fireman belays

When and where:
– Morning 9AM – 1PM
– 7th of March (Sunday)
– Clovelly

Abseiling gear:
– Harness
– Helmet
– Personal anchor system + carabiner
– Rappel device + carabiner
The club can provide these items if you require. Please put each item you need in the ‘Gear I need’ section during registration (or ‘All’ if you require everything). Please add if you have any previous experience with abseiling in the past.

All rope and safety equipment will be provided by the club.

Please note that if you have symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, such as cough, sore throat, runny nose or fever, you should not join the activity. If you present with symptoms, you may be asked to leave the activity.
