abseiling
Dear All,
Come and learn the basics of abseiling at Clovelly this coming Saturday (March 27th) . Note that we’ll start at 2 pm, and you should be able to make your own way there.
Abseiling is a valuable skill to have, and is required for many of our other trips such as canyoning, multipitch abseiling, advanced climbing and caving.
This trip is geared for new members and those new to abseiling. No previous experience required.
What we will cover:
• Maintain personal safety near cliffs
• Understand basic abseiling equipment
• Attach rap rack/tubular descender to rope
• Perform safety checks
• Belay an abseiler
• Perform a basic abseil on single/double rope, with rap rack/tubular descender
• Manage an overhang
• Manage a fall or inversion
• Engage in abseiler/belayer communications
• Experience the fun of abseiling
Who is this trip for:
• Members who have not done any abseiling before
When & Where:
• Afternoon 2 PM – 5 PM
• 27th of March (Saturday)

Abseiling gear:
The club can provide these items if you don’t have yourself. Please cut and paste each item you need in the ‘Gear I need’ section during registration. Please add if you have any previous experience with abseiling in the past.
• Harness
• Helmet
• Personal anchor system + carabiner
• Rappel device + carabiner
Please note that if you have symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, such as cough, sore throat, runny nose or fever, you should not join the activity. If you present with symptoms, you may be asked to leave the activity.
