Hello Adventurers,

Abseiling is essential for club trips such as canyoning and climbing. Join us on this skills trip to give you the techniques and knowledge to undertake a safe and successful abseil. Completion of Abseil skills 1 is a minimum requirement for joining more involved rope-based trips with the club.

What we will cover:
– Maintaining personal safety at the top and bottom of cliffs
– Preparing for an abseil
– Conducting pre-abseil safety checks
– Getting on and off the rope
– Communication between cliff top and bottom
– Practicing a number of abseils
– Negotiating common abseil hazards
– Performing fireman belays

Who is this trip for?
This trip is for beginners. No prior experience necessary. We will be operating at heights up to 12 meters, you must be comfortable with this.

Where & when?
Burrows Park, Clovelly Cliffs
10.30AM start

Transport:
Participants will need to catch a bus from Central to Clovelly Beach or otherwise make their own way.

You must provide:
– Closed Grippy Shoes, no flip flops or open-toe sandals.
– Warm, comfortable clothes.
– Light rain jacket in case of light rain.
– Sun protection.
– Snacks and water.
– All long hair must be tied back.
– Fun, adventurous spirit!

All rope, safety equipment, helmets, harnesses will be provided by the club.

This trip (as with most outdoors trips) is weather dependant.
