Beginner friendly 3 day Blue Lake ice climbing & mountaineering trip. Blue Lake, in the Snowy Mountains / Kosciuszko National Park, is Australia’s best ice climbing area. But don’t let his fool you. Pitches are small, with the biggest single unbroken vertical pitch being approx. 10m.
Please note that while it says beginner friendly you must be self sufficient for snow camping and have climbing experience. The club has some technical gear it can loan. You also need to be be fit and strong. Hauling 20kg to 30kg of camping + ice climbing gear 7km across snow is not easy and most of the route is up hill!
