G’day,
Megan and I are running a gentle paddle out and back along the section of Shoalhaven near the minifest campground. If we have enough cars and fit paddlers, we could do a longer trip with car shuffle, but the ultimate distance will largely depend on the experience of participants (and the weather/water conditions). I will provide a briefing and some technique coaching, but mainly we’re just enjoying the surrounds. Here’s a glimpse of some of the views I got when setting the paddlegaine– cliffs and sunken forests galore:
Gear:
The $50 includes the boat, PFD, and paddle — this covers the cost of maintaining the equipment. The club can provide drybags. If you’re worried about the cold, wetsuits and neoprene skirts are also available.
Requirements:
Reasonable upper body endurance (~3hrs of paddling)
Must be able to comfortably swim unassisted 100m.
Must be able to carry 23kg (boat weight) with assistance.

If you have boats/roof racks, let me know. I’ll source other leaders, and we could go as a larger group

Note: Trip is limited to 8 participants due to 1:4 guiding ratios, but more seats may open, pending availability of leadership and boatcraft. This trip is running as part of Minifest, so many of us will be arriving the evening before and camping Friday and Saturday night. The trip is suitable for novice club members and recently inducted trip leaders, with adequate swimming ability. If cost of participation is prohibitive, contact me with your circumstances, and I’ll see what I can do.
