rogaining

What is rogaining? It’s the sport of cross-scountry navigation. You and your 1-4 teammates will have a map with marked controls, and you’ll have a limited time to get as many as you can. Practice your offtrack map and compass skills while exploring places that you’d probably never see on a regular hike.

This year’s Festival has 3 options to suit all experience and fitness levels: 6hr, 15hr “Roving”, and 24 hour championship. anyone can enter any of the options. The Roving option is tremendously flexible– you start and finish with the 24hr crew, but you *must* come back for a 9 hour rest (or split up however you like) for a max 15 hours spent out on course.

When you book here, PLEASE STATE if…

• you need help finding a teammate, and if so
  • what is your experience and preferred pace/event-duration
• if you’re camping with us the Friday night (pick this option if you don’t have a vehicle, as many will be driving up the night before)
• if you need gear, for camping or hiking

 

The course is in Capertee Valley, and features a highly desirable Hash House location at the center of the map. That means you can head out, head back for a rest and feed, then head back out in any direction you choose! Explore all around.
