The days are getting shorter…
The water’s getting colder…
People have started talking about this thing called a “canyon season” and are saying it’s coming to an end?

Fortunately there are still some dry canyons* out there to explore and help tide us over the winter months.

On 10th-11th May, Tim and I will be heading down to Bungonia to descend one of these dry canyons*. https://ropewiki.com/Fordham_Canyon

Fordham is best described as an exposed multi-pitch abseiling trip down big dry waterfalls. It’s a rarely visited canyon, partly due to the difficult access, and partly due to its reputation for loose and chossy rocks. Also note that neither Tim or I have done this trip before. This is definitely one for the experienced and independant abseiler.

We are planning on doing this as an overnight trip.
Saturday arvo we’ll depart Sydney, then hike 4km down to the Shoalhaven River and setup basecamp.
On Sunday we’ll tackle Fordham Canyon. No need to take your camping gear through the canyon as we’ll go back past basecamp on our return journey to the cars.

To be considered for this trip you must have previous canyoning or abseiling experience and have a good level of fitness. There’ll be 1000m of ascent up steep hills with heavy packs.

Please let us know your canyoning/abseiling/overnight hiking experience in the signup info, and also if you need to borrow any canyoning/camping gear.

Catch you out there!
Tim and Toby
