orienteering
Orienteering is a sport that challenges both the body and the mind. It’s also loads of fun!
The aim is to use a special orienteering map to navigate your way around a course and visit marked check points along the way. You choose a course that suits your age and experience and proceed at your own pace: walk, jog or run. It is a race but you decide if you want to just race yourself or be the next world champion! The course may take you through urban areas, parks, schools, farmland or forests.
The MetrO League is an annual inter-club competition for greater Sydney metropolitan clubs. The series is run from March through until August/September with events conducted on one Sunday morning per month.
What to Bring
You don’t need any gear apart from your normal jogging shoes and appropriate clothing (shorts and T-shirt are fine). Instruction is available to all first timers.
Cost:
- Orienteering Club Members – Seniors $17, Juniors (13-20 years) $10, Sub-juniors $7. Family rate:$40

Sign up to the OAC activity below and say what time you’ll start so I know to say hi on the day!
If you’re wanting to improve your navigation skills, this is a great event to put it into practice. Feel free to message me or ask on the UTSOAC Discord for more information.
A group of us might be camping in Belanglo after the Mushroom Foraging trip and doing this on the way back to Sydney. Let me know if you’re interested!
Regards, Tim.
