UTSOAC has a spectacular opportunity for members to train in outdoor lead climbing with a former club president and ACIA-certified instructor. With extensive knowledge of crags around Sydney and the Blue Mountains, they are generously providing this free one-day course on June 21st to help develop the next generation of UTSOAC climbers 🙂

Details:
Date: Saturday 21 June
Location: Wahroonga Rocks
Time: 0800– approx. 1600
Nearest Station: Wahroonga

Requirements:
Participants must be able to demonstrate cliff safety, tie in with a rethreaded figure-eight knot, climb using a top-rope system, and belay with an ATC-style device. RS1 or equivalent experience covers these skills.

One-Day Course Content:
Crag safety
Environmental considerations
Tying in with a rethreaded figure of eight
Setting up a belay device
Flaking the rope
Buddy check
Spotting the climber and lead belaying
Techniques for clipping quickdraws
Cleaning a sports climb

This is a rescheduled event and has only 3 remaining spots available. Priority will go to members who have been in the club for over 12 months and are committed to developing their climbing skills. Please enter your response to this and the prerequisites upon registering.
