The start of semester was a very wet, so hopefully by week 6 we will have a wonderful day to go for a climb. This is a Rocks Skills 1 trip for you to learn how to rock climb outdoors and expand your climbing terrain beyond the climbing gym. No experience needed!
This trip will teach you the fundamentals of rock climbing including:
• Cliff safety
• Equipment
• Pre-climb buddy checks
• Tying into a rope
• Communications/calls
• Top-rope belaying
• Basic rock climbs on top rope
This trip is ESSENTIAL to going on any future climbing trips with the UTSOAC, so get on board! Let us know what your experience is in the sign-up sheet, even if it is nothing but enthusiasm for adventure. If you are coming with a friend make sure to mention each other in the sign up info so we know.
The club can provide you with climbing gear for the trip, please Cut & Paste the following into ‘Gear I Need Section’ when signing up (if you don’t know the name of something, you probably need it):

– Helmet
– Harness
– PAS + Carabiner
– ATC + Carabiner
Additional BYO
– Lunch and Snacks
– At least 1L of water (more if you drink more)
– Sunscreen
– Appropriate shoes and clothing
– Climbing shoes are strongly recommended
