abseiling
HI all
Nadiah and I are are planning to run an AS1 session, this coming Sunday, if the weather is ok. There’s a 30% chance of rain, so we’ll make the call on Thursday night as to a go or no go.
What is AS1?
If you participate successfully, you’ll be able to participate in slightly more advanced Club trips which require you to be proficient in straight forward abseils.
Abseiling is being able to complete a controlled rope descent, down a vertical route, eg a cliff from top to bottom.
You will learn safety checks, basic equipment and how to use and look after that gear.
You will participate by watching, learning and doing.
You do not require any pre-requisite skills or experience.
You will need to be an active person, aware of heights, as well as disciplined, collegiate and conscious of teamwork and safety.
You will need layered clothing, shower proof jacket, grippy. shoes, sun protection, food and drink for the morning. You will need to transport yourself to Clovelly. Please note if you think you have the right gear (we can tell!) and your experience outdoors.
A more comprehensive briefing note will be provided if the Trip goes ahead and you are selected.
This skills trip is popular as basic skill pre-requisite, so don’t sign up unless you can commit for the entire session.
