abseiling
Hi all
The canyoning season is approaching, and for anyone who is keen to participate, it is a club requirement to have successfully completed Abseil Skills 1 (AS1).
In AS1, we will teach you about the gear you need for abseiling, what to do before and after an abseil and most importantly, how to abseil safely!
We will be running this activity in Clovelly, on a little sandstone cliff right by the ocean. So you won’t just learn how to abseil, you’ll also be able to enjoy some spectacular views!
Prerequisites for AS1:
– moderate fitness level
– happy to work in a group
Things to bring on the day:
– closed shoes with good grip
– comfortable clothing
– sun protection
– snacks
– water – please bring 2 litres at least, it might be a hot day
– any abseiling gear that you own and plan to use
The club has harnesses, helmets, carabiners etc, and I will bring enough for everyone. So if you don’t have any (or all) of the required gear, don’t worry, you’ll be able to use the club gear on the day.
We will be meeting at Burrows Park in Clovelly. There is a small building with change rooms by the side of the footy field – this is where we’ll be – see Google Maps link.

If you can’t find us, call me on 0414 303 185.
You can drive or take public transport.
Please make sure that you arrive on time (or even a few minutes early) as we want to give you as much time to practice as possible!
Cheers,
Elaine, Pete & Birger
