canyoning

Idea was there, you cannot reach. You can walk through so many canyons in the bluey, and go down long waterfalls, but you know this is not Danae itself, but a shadow of it. This is a memory that you cannot return to, an experience that you cannot possibly forget, all of which makes Danae Brook the epitome of skills and aesthetics like a challenge it represents – the challenge we can never turn down.

Danae is here, silently awaits you.

Danae Brook (v4a3 V) is my favourite canyon. It sits in the heart of Kanangra-Boyd National Park, and like everything in there, it’s huge and long. It’s a technical committing canyon with no bailout in the middle, taking 10-12 hours to complete, and the information can be found here .

We’re going for climbing exit, so there’re a few requirements for you to meet.
– You must be completely self sufficient and confident in canyons
– You must understand SRT and rope management (bleeding ropes as the rock is extra sharp there)
– You must be fit for climbing out and a long walk out

The plan is go down on Saturday and camp there. On Sunday, we need to start walk-in before dawn.
