Hello Folks,

Winter is a couple of weeks away…time to get dust off the winter gear!
This trip is the perfect opportunity to test and fine-tune your winter camping setup before heading into full snow conditions later in the season.
We’re hiking to Mount Gingera, just outside of Canberra.
You can either depart Friday night after work or early Saturday morning, depending on your preference and car-pooling options. ***Correction*** We’ll return to back to cars by Sunday mid-afternoon and THEN depart home.

Elevation gain: 1,116m

Essential Gear for Snow Camping & Overnight Hiking:
All items should fit into a large backpack, including:

  • Sleeping Bag: Comfort level -5°C
  • Sleeping Mat: R-value 4+
  • Hiking Tent 3-4 Season (club can provide)
  • Winter Hiking Attire: Fleece tops, winter hike pants, hiking boots, wool socks
  • Rain Jacket
  • Thermals: Top & bottom
  • Down Jacket or Winter Jacket
  • Beanie & Gloves
  • Camp Cooking Stove & Pot (club can provide, bring your own gas)
  • Camping Utensils
  • Food: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
  • Water
  • Toiletries & First Aid Kit
  • Head Torch
  • Sun Protection

If you need club gear, please mention it in your sign-up.

Prerequisites: Some overnight hiking experience or hiking with a heavy pack over long distances is recommended. Please state your experience with overnight hiking in your sign-up.
