Hi Folks,
What better way to enjoy summer than to float down a river and camp under the stars?
Date: Sat 30 Jan-Sun 31 Jan
Itinerary:
Our trip explores the Colo region and starts with a pleasant 1.5 hr walk along Bob Turners Track. We then take to the waters of the Upper Colo River with a small inflatable raft. Rolling hills and lush bush will pass us by as we enjoy a day of cruising down the river. There may also be the option to brave some small rapids, conditions permitting. Disembarking at Upper Colo Reserve we will camp the night, with facilities including toilets and showers. Our second day takes us down the last section of the Upper Colo river for an easy paddle. We end the river trip at the bridge at Putty Rd and return to Sydney.
With some car swaps at the beginning of the trip we will position cars at the campsite and end point so that camping gear will not need to be ported along the river and we can easily depart at the end.
Required Equipment:
Small Raft: While the club has a few inflatable rafts, preference will be given to those who can provide one themselves. These can be purchased cheaply at Kmart for $25.00 or adventure stores. A smaller raft would be preferable over a large one or hard shell as it must be hiked in.
Camping Equipment: This can be provided by the club if necessary
Food / Water: There is tank water available at the campsite but this must be treated/filtered. No shops are nearby.
Sun protection
Swimmers, towel, hiking clothes, warm clothes
Petrol Money for your driver
Money for camping reservation: $10.25
**You must be a confident swimmer to attend this trip.
