Hello all,
Valley Outdoor has extended us a deal to run a beginner-friendly paddle expedition. They said to think of this as “Camp craft with a boat”, so you’ll pick up some rudimentary canoe skills, but the focus is on getting confident with multi-day, remote expeditions. Here’s a preview of the itinerary (more details at the forms link):
“Basic campcraft and ‘time under canvas’ in the most ‘scenic flatwater paddling venue in Australia’.
We’d also include detailed discussions of (along with some pre-course resources) :
- equipment
- basic boat design/features/considerations
- fundamental paddling strokes
- minimal impact/leave no trace
- packing/waterproofing
- boat transport/liftig/strapping
- self-rescue [close to shore]
