Hey all!

On Saturday the 2nd of august (02/08/25) I will be running a land based fishing trip at Gunnamatta bay baths! It will be a fun morning/early arvo to socialise with some other people in the club, learn some fishing basics and maybe catch your first (or billionth) fish! So whether you have never fished, or are pretty much Poseidon himself this trip is for you.

The plan is to meet around 10am on the baths entry point (exact coordinates will be given after signup but the location should be findable on google maps), and finish at around 2pm.

Hopefully the weather holds out.

GEAR

In the signup please tell me what gear you may need, none is ok as all fishing gear can be provided by the club. And a small donation of a 2 dollar coin is appreciated for supply of bait and burly.

Recommended gear:

If you have your own fishing gear feel free to bring it, if you want to buy some I can give some recommendations but no stress.

At least 1/1.5L of water, it may be sunny so it’s good to be hydrated.

Snacks and/or lunch for the day, main Cronulla is also nearby and there is a woolworths.

Warm clothes, it’s winter and it gets cold on the water.

Foldable camp chair to chill while you’re fishing.

Sociable attitude! Land based fishing is a great opportunity to meet others and have a chat!

Sunscreen and a hat is also recommended in case of sun, and for those gunho participants you can bring swimmers and jump into the water, the baths have a 1m or so jump so it’s good fun.

FISHING LICENSE

You MUST have a fishing license to participate, but no stress because it’s only $7 for 3 days or around $35 for a year (I would recommend as more fishing trips will be run). If you don’t have one you could get fined so pls get one!

TRANSPORT

The gunnamatta bay baths are a 5min walk from Cronulla station so for those getting public transport, you just need to get the T4 Cronulla service to the end of the line, but please check train timetables prior to the day.

For those with cars let me know if you are happy to give others a lift and a spreadsheet will be made, and just remember for those who are getting lifts please give your drivers $5/$10 or so for fuel depending on where you’re coming from 🙂

One day soon... #fishing #fish

I hope to see you all there,
