hiking
Hi and Welcome to our New Members joining us this new semester!
Me, Siang and Dan are running a hiking trip out at Bargo, 1.5hours drive south of Sydney.
The walk consists of a visit to Mermaid Pools, cliff top walk with views down to Bargo river, then a steep descent into Tahmoor Gorge, where we will be gorge walking, rock hopping and crossing over shallow river points, there will be a steep ascent out of the gorge, and returning to the same cliff top walk back to the cars.
The track is approximately 10km and should take around 4 to 6 hours depending on the fitness level of the group.
Due to the challenging terrain we will keep the group small, maximum participants will be 7.
Please note:
• That none of the trip leaders have done this walk, so this is an exploratory walk for us (we will bring map and compass).
• Some sections of the track are poorly marked, there may be some off track walking and bush bashing.
• You must be able to walk up and down steep inclines, have a good level of fitness and agility to complete the hike.
Personal items to bring:
1. Good grippy hiking shoes and woollen socks
2. Backpack to carry all the below:
3. At least 2 litres of water,
4. Lunch, snacks, food,
5. Packable rain jacket,
6. Warm layers of clothing, long sleeve tops and trousers,
7. Hat, Sunscreen & Sunnies
8. A Small first aid kit
9. Camera (optional)
10. A Sense of Adventure (essential)!
If you satisfy all the criteria above and love hiking, sign up.
Successful participants will be emailed itinerary details.
See you soon on the trip,
Susan, Siang and Dan.
