rogaining

What is Rogaining?

Rogaining is the sport of cross-country navigation. Using a map and compass collect as many controls as possible within the time limit.

Brisbane Waters National Park is a favorite of OAC. Pindar Cave is a lovely overnight hike form the novel and strange Wondabyne Station. Come have an explore, practice your nav, and enjoy the usual post-event awesome catering of 1NS Scouts. Camping optional as it’s not far for us.

This event is only a short drive out of Sydney and pretty affordable on concession ($70 full, $50 concession). Let us know in the signup if you need a compass, your experience, and what pace you’re looking for (speedy? chill? something else entirely?)

More info below and at this link:

“The “Kariong Up the Coast” autumngaine is getting close! There will be a 6 and 12 hour option close to Sydney in the Brisbane Water National Park. The hash house will be at the Scout Camp with the opportunity to camp in comfort on Saturday night.

The course covers an extensive area of the Brisbane Water NP and will involve mostly firetrails and single track. There are quite a few off track controls (approximately 1/3) but the opportunity for cross country navigation is limited due to the very slow nature of the terrain and vegetation (mostly the vegetation!).

There are some fantastic rock platforms, creeks, waterfalls and some outstanding views from a couple of peaks. The course has challenges to suit both experienced and novice rogainers.

It’s a beautiful place to visit with rock platforms, waterfalls, views and a few peaks. Visit Mt Wondabyne, look for aboriginal engravings and some wildlife including the elusive land mullet.

6 hour starts at 12 noon
12 hour starts at 11 am.
A challenging course guaranteed!”

See you there,

salome
