rogaining
=INTRO=
The Lake Macquarie rogaine has two lengths – a 6hr and a 12hr adventure – through stands of towering slash pines, ridges and spurs of open dry eucalypt forest, to gullies of moist temperate rainforest. The course setters have seen lyrebirds, wallabies and a myriad of little finches as well as an emu this week!
The NSW Rogaining page describing the event is: https://nswrogaining.org/2020-lake-macquarie-rogaine/
=WHAT IS ROGAINING?=
Rogaining is the fun team sport of long-distance navigation – hiking through wilderness with nothing more than a compass and a printed map. No phones or GPS allowed. Hit as many checkpoints as fast as you can, collect points and beat the other teams!
This is a flexible event which will cater for (confident) beginners through to pros (we’ll team you with someone experienced). Please mention when registering:
– whether you are a beginner or experienced rogainer
– whether you want to do the 6hr or 12 hr event (you must be suitably fit for walking that long)
– whether you have a car to drive to the event and how many people you can take
– whether you wish to camp the night before
– if you wish to establish your own team with your buddies (and who they are)
