Hi all
Come and join Megan and I for a fun day out at Lower Bowens Creek Canyon. A beautiful canyon, with some refreshing swims and interesting abseils!
This trip is for people who have:
– completed Abseil Skills 1,
– have a reasonable level of fitness, comfortable with scrambling around boulders, logs and other obstacles,
– comfortable with jumping into a pool of water from a height
– are able to swim at least 50 meters unassisted
– be able to tolerate chilly water
Gear you will need (the club can provide equipment if necessary)
– Harness + Personal Anchor System (safety line) which includes a carabiner (Club can provide)
– Helmet (Club can provide)
– Descender (Club can provide)
– Wetsuit (specify size – XS,S,M,L,XL – Club can provide)
– Dry Bag (Club can provide)
– Canyon pack (Club can provide)
– Lunch and snacks
– 2L of water
– Any additional layers you want to wear under your wetsuit
– Old shorts to protect the wetsuit
– Raincoat, longsleeve, thermal for the hike in and out
– Dry clothes/shoes to leave in car
When requesting to join the trip please state:
– Experience with abseiling and canyons
– What gear you need (including the size of wetsuit)
I can pick up some of you from UTS Building 10 and give you a lift. We can only accept a limited number of people who need a lift, so please let us know in your registration if you have your own car.
