All Day
canyoning
Hi all,
On the Saturday of Megafest, Sam and I will be exploring a couple of the slightly less frequented canyons of the Wollangame – Geronimo and Horseshoe. This is an intermediate trip as doing both will make for quite a long day, there will be some navigation and route-finding, and neither Sam nor I have done either canyon before.
THE PLAN:
– Sam and I will be camping at Cathedral Reserve Campground from the Friday night. If you’re heading up on Saturday morning, that’s fine, just make sure to meet us at the campground in time.
– On Saturday, we’ll get up in time to leave by 8:30 am.
– We’ll follow the main Wollangambe Entry Track most of the way to the Wollangambe, cross it, and head up the Geronimo entrance ‘track’ on other bank before dropping into Geronimo canyon.
– Once we’ve finished Geronimo, we’ll head back up the same Geronimo entrance track , but drop down to the East instead, to do Horseshoe.
– Afterwards, we’ll take the Wollangambe Entry Track back to the campsite.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
– Good physical fitness. We’ll be doing a lot of uphill walking to, from, and between the canyons.
– Experience scrambling and bush bashing (we will be doing a lot of both).
– AS1 and at least a couple of other canyons/abseiling trips.
GEAR:
– To sign up for this trip, you should already have a good idea of what personal gear you need to take on a canyoning trip.
– Don’t worry about the ‘gear I need’ section, I’ll send out a spreadsheet to organise this closer to the date.
In the signup description, please jot down your canyoning/abseiling experience. Hope to see you out there!
Cheers,
Zen & Sam
