Vivid is an annual Sydney event that sees the city light up with all sorts of creative and flashy light exhibits. I’d completely forgot it was happening until it was here, so this is a bit last minute. I’ve always wanted to paddle the harbour and explore Vivid from a kayak.

You will need:

• Your own headtorch
• The ability to swim 50m and tread water for 4min
• Some paddling experience — it’s safer at night when we’ve got some speed behind us to dodge traffic
• Rain and wind protection
• A sense of whimsy — we’re going to try to get the boat butts really glam and glowy (picture for illustrative purposes only, ours will likely involve duct tape, velcro, and a little improvisation). So include in your signup info if you have anything bright and colourful to contribute.
