Hi all,
Niamh, Jason, Ehren, and I are running Rock Skills 1 this Saturday (Crag TBD). If the forecast doesn’t improve, the trip will be cancelled and reposted rather than postponed. We’ll make that call Wednesday evening.
This trip is for those with some indoor climbing experience who want to try it outside! Successful completion of UTSOAC Rock Skills 1 allows you to join beginner climbing trips with the club.
Make sure you detail your climbing experience in the Sign-up information. Or at least say your favourite colour.
We will cover:
– Cliff safety
– Equipment
– Pre-climb buddy checks
– tying into a rope
– Communications/calls
– Top-rope belaying
– Basic rock climbs on top rope.
The club can provide you with climbing gear for the trip, please Cut & Paste the following into ‘Gear I Need Section’ when signing up (if you don’t know the name of something, you probably need it):

– Helmet
– Harness
– PAS + Carabiner
– ATC + Carabiner

Climbing shoes are strongly recommended. You’ll have a miserable time compared to those who have them.
