Hi UTSOAC Members,
Myself, Pete and a few other trip leaders will be running Rock Skills 1 at Bangor West this Sunday 21st Jan. If you’ve been itching to transition from indoor climbing to conquering real rock faces, and want to join future club climbing trips, this is your opportunity.
- Location: Bangor West, near Menai, less than an hour’s drive south of UTS
- Date: Sun 21st January
- Time: 09:00 – 3:00pm
What to Expect:
- A theory session, followed by a number of top-rope climbs. Participants will learn;
- Leave No Trace principles in climbing
- Understanding climbing equipment and how to use it
- Figure 8 knot
- Personal safety near cliffs
- Pre-climb safety checks
- Communication between climber and belayer.
Registration:
Upon registration, please include a brief note about your prior climbing experience. Preference will be given to those who have climbed indoors and can drive other passengers.
An email will be sent out to accepted participants with more info on the above.
