This one is for the Hikers out there!
Apologies for the late posting of the trip, but had to re-assess suitable overnight hiking tracks since the recent deluge we have lately and also to see what the weather is up to for Easter.
So it’s looking pretty spec for the Warrumbungles!
We are heading up there for 4 days and planning the Grand High tops circuit, exploring the highlights, camping at the top for some starry night gazing, ancient volcanic scenery, and of course, Easter chocolate fondue around the campfire.
May also do a stopover at the Observatory station, and book in a night sky tour.
Hiking Distance: 30km or more depending on side trips
Ascent/Descent: Up to 1,222m
Pre-requisites for the trip:
#Experienced over-night hikers
#Able to carry a heavy backpack for long distances and up steep terrain.
#Would be helpful if you can drive a manual car to help share the driving load.
#Good sense of fun and adventure – bonus points if you can make the leader laugh,
because she takes herself too seriously sometimes…
#O yeah…and please be aware that none of the leaders have done this walk previously.
We’ll be exploring and navigating for the first time.
At this stage, we only have 1 car, so only 2 participants can join.
We can enlarge the group if we have another car and driver. Bear in the mind, the drive to the Bungles is about 6 hours from Sydney without breaks.
It will take a day to get out there and a day to get back.
