leader training skills workshop

Hello all,

We’ve been making the most of the warm season this year and there’s been weekend after weekend of amazing trips happening. The Outdoor Adventure Club is nothing without its volunteers, and every cohort of new members brings some rising stars. We’d love you to join the team. Quite a few people in last year’s survey indicated they’d be up for helping out. Come along for some pizza and to learn more.

This extends to existing TLs as well. You’re a wealth of knowledge and experience. Always good to hear from you.

 

 

Induction is step 1 of becoming a trip leader. It’s a bit of powerpoint, a bit of listening to veteran leaders tell funny stories, and mostly us getting to know you. What you’ll learn:

• Our legal and ethical responsibilities
• Steps to becoming a trip leader
• Skills you need and how you get endorsed for the trips you want to run
• Finding mentorship and getting started
• What can go wrong and what to do about it
• Resources we have for you
• Benefits– it’s not all a thankless gig.

 

If you’ve been shoulder-tapped by a trip leader at some point, you’re already placed to have someone more experienced help you along. If you haven’t but are still interested, sign up and show up on the night. We’ll try to have some experienced leaders on hand, and we’ll try matching you with someone that can help you on your goals.
