climbing
Hi all
Pat Nadiah and I are running a UTSOAC climbing trip on Sunday, August 17th and we want to see you there for an epic day on some classic Nowra rock.
The plan is to head down to Nowra. We’ll decide on the exact crag (Thomson’s Point or The Grotto) closer to the date based on conditions and group preference, but either way, we’re guaranteed a great time. Meeting point details will be shared a few days prior, but it will be either The Grotto or Thompson’s Point.
Climbing Grades
The crags we’ll be visiting offer a wide range of climbing grades, typically from mid-teens to high-20s. Be aware that some routes are known to be “sandbagged” (harder than their listed grade!).
Prerequisites
To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, participants must have:
RS1 certification (or equivalent skills)
Confidence climbing at least high-teen grades
When you register, please include details of your climbing experience if you’re relying on equivalent skills rather than RS1 certification.
Registrations without the required information will not be accepted.
Gear List
Please copy/paste the list below into your registration and remove what you already have so we know what club gear might be needed:
– Helmet
– Harness
– PAS + carabiner
– ATC + carabiner
– Your own climbing shoes (club doesn’t provide these!)
What Else to Bring
Plenty of food and water for the day.
Warm clothing as Nowra can get chilly, especially in the morning.
$5-10 for your driver if carpooling.
Your great climbing attitude!
Transport
We will coordinate carpooling a few days before the trip. Please indicate in the sign-up form if you can drive or need a ride.
Sign-up
Spots are limited so make sure you sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
I’ll send a follow-up email with all the final details on the Friday before the trip.
See you on the rock!
