Day 1
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/australia/new-south-wales/bungonia-gorge-green-and-red-track
“This rugged circuit combines the Red and Green Tracks in Bungonia National Park to offer a complete bushwalking experience, taking you from sweeping plateau views deep into the belly of the gorge. It is a diverse journey that shifts from eucalypt forests and limestone outcrops on the rim to the dramatic depths of the canyon floor. Along the upper sections, the walking is relatively open, passing through grassy areas and offering opportunities to spot local wildlife, such as lyrebirds, wallabies, and peregrine falcons soaring near the lookouts.
The true challenge begins as you descend into the gorge. The terrain here becomes steep and rugged, with loose shale requiring careful footing. Once you reach the valley floor, the track fades into a riverbed obstacle course dominated by massive limestone boulders. This section is the highlight for adventurous walkers, requiring hand-over-hand scrambling and constant route-finding to navigate the house-sized rocks. It is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, surrounded by towering cliffs and pockets of maidenhair ferns.”
The track is estimated to take 5-7hrs and we’ll camp the night at Bungonia campgrounds which has warm showers and a communal kitchen [No fires though! : ‘ ( ]
Day 2
