What is Rogaining?
Rogaining is the sport of cross-country navigation. Using a map and compass collect as many controls as possible within the time limit.
The Paddy Pallin Rogaine is one of the most popular and friendliest navigation events of the year and has been a highlight of the calendar for over 60 years. We usually have a nice dinner and campout the night before the rogaine, and there’s always hot food afterwards, courtesy of 1st North Sydney Scouts. This year, we’re returning to Rydal, near Lithgow. If you plan well, it’s feasible to take the train to this event. The local terrain and forests should be a welcome introduction to getting off-track with your trekking.
