Hey Guys,
We have an opportunity for a cool, weekly collab with another uni club, Sunday evening at USYD pool.
“Stick ten boats in a pool, throw a ball, and watch the feeding frenzy.
Canoe polo is a high-octane team sport and superb training for fitness and boat skills. My name is Adam, I’m the VP of the Sydney Uni Canoe Club.
We have recently started up canoe polo and are working with Paddle NSW and Paddle Australia and hopefully uni sports and other institutions to get it off the ground in Sydney for the first time since before COVID. It’s a super fun game, I think a lot of people in your club would have an interest in at as whitewater paddlers, flatwater paddlers or non paddlers alike. We would really love to start up a small intervarsity comp. What this would likely look like is that we would all train together on USYD campus on Sundays, then we would have games against each other and make a comp out of it.
We’ve teamed up with the Polo NSW and they are helping to coach us for free, and they’re supplying all the boats, balls, paddles, PFD’s etc. that we need to play. The only cost is pool entry fee, $6.50. I think it would be a great sport to come and try, and if there are some nibbles then we’d definitely help you guys to create a team (it’s only 5 paddlers on the water at a time).
We are currently in week 3 of a 9 week agreement with our pool. I think that with support from more unis to demonstrate that we have people keen, we will certainly get to be able to have more weeks in the pool.

All you need is a rashie and towel. In the sign-up info, tell me your:
- Swimming ability
- Paddling experience

I’ll act as facilitator, but there may not be an OAC TL present at each meeting.
