climbing

Basically because we can’t afford portaledges we’re going to camp in a cave 60m off the ground.

Morning start on sat, climbing around the afgan wall area of mt boyce. Climbs are pretty varied in grade but there is easy-moderate climbing (14-20)

After we’ve had enough climbing we’ll rap down into the cave to spend the night and climb out in the morning (grade 15). You’re welcome to head home on sunday or come with us and climb elsewhere (tbc)

Skills Required

Rock skills 2 / Lead Skills + Top Belay
Abseil Skills 2 (it’s an abseil in crag, need to be able to abseil with prusik and ascend)
Comfortable sleeping on a cliff edge (don’t worry, we’ll be saftied but it’s exposed)

Gear Required:
– Padded Harness, PAS (can borrow PAS from club)
– Headtorch and camping gear (sleeping pad, sleeping bag, can borrow)
– Clothing for different conditions (it could be pretty windy on the ledge)
