canyoning

Hey adventurers!

So you’ve completed your AS1 and know how get down the cliff at Clovelly… well, the next step is to put your new skills to use in an actual canyon in the Blue Mountains!
Rashad and I will take a beginners’ group to Serendipity Canyon, here’s what you can expect:
– a fairly short walk to the first abseil
– a series of abseils
– a walk through shallow water to get us into the deep and narrow canyon section
– and even a secret glow worm cave at the very end, before we hike back up to the cars!

We won’t be able to stay dry, but the weather’s warming up so here’s your chance to get a first glimpse at the stunning Blue Mountains canyons!

This will be a full day trip ending back in Sydney late in the afternoon. We will organise pick ups and drops offs back at UTS and priority will be given to those that can drive themselves and others. Anyone needing a lift will pay $20 for the round trip to and from UTS Building 10.

Registrations will close if the trip fills up. Information regarding gear, travel arrangements and so on will be sent to successful applicants in the coming days, so keep an eye on emails.

Pre-requisite:
– Must be available to leave UTS Building 10 for the Blue Mountains by 6:00am on Sunday 13 October. (we will discuss transport options once places are confirmed).
– Must have completed Abseil Skills 1 or have prior abseiling experience (please provide details in the comments section when you sign up)
– Able to swim at least 15 meters unassisted
– Good fitness
– Comfortable with scrambling around boulders, logs and other obstacles
– Comfortable with jumping into a pool of water from a height (may not be necessary)
– Must respond to all emails promptly
king forward to taking you canyoning!

Looking forward to a great day out in the mountains!

Cheers
Birger
