skills workshop

Hi all,
I’ve had it in mind to do some skills workshops at The Ledge during the Weekly Social Nights. I previously ran a knots workshop that was a big hit.

Prusiking is a method of ascending (or descending) a fixed rope using two friction hitches tied in some cord around the rope. It can be used across a huge variety of situations and is a crucial skill to be safe and independent around ropes.

Ideally you should have some experience with tying knots, and know how to tie a clove hitch. If you don’t know that, come along to the Ledge and ask someone about it, we’ve got a bunch of rope ends in a bucket to practice with (I just can’t guarantee that helper can be me).

Please include what knots you know and some of your outdoor experience in your signup.

I’ll be teaching:

  • Prusik hitches
    • Traditional prusik
    • Klemheist
    • French prusik
  • Ascending & descending with friction hitches

Join us afterwards for some climbing, and/or dinner at the Forest Lodge Hotel @ 8pm.

Entry to The Ledge is $10.

Cheers, Tim & Jas.
